Addiction is not a choice by any means, of course its a choice to use a drug the first time and yeah you might have the power to say no in the early stages of your addiction, but that doesn't last long. Also the first step in AA is admitting you're powerless over you addiction. That doesn't mean your admitting that your addiction will control you for the rest of your life, it means your admitting that your addiction is controlling you. The first step is is no way making us feel pity or giving us a reason to continue to use. Whoever runs this page and these scientist need a new job because they don't know shit.

Jane, this is an totally unbelievable. No wonder there are attacks against the Hubbard organizations and against his religion, Scientology, or the Narconon drug rehab program. This can change the entire medical profession but would reduce the income of the pharmaceutical and medical industry in the long run because it cures people by taking drugs out of the body instead of putting more drugs into the body or addicting people to lifelong drug use. I hope a lot of people read this article. They need to wake up out there.

I used to be a drinker, at 16, 17 years old !! By the time I was 19 it was hell to put the bottle down. But now I am 49. Years ago I did something similar to Narconon. It had some L.Ron Hubbard stuff in it. It took me a long time after that to really get over the cravings. Later I stopped smoking too (I had to work at that one longer.) Now I can actually have a social drink. Yes I can drink one beer, or two, at a party and stop right there and not drink anything else, nor touch any drugs, for the rest of the party. Will power? Well I practiced confronting life, my day-to-day activities. I eventually really got over those alcohol cravings. It took time and a lot of personal self improvement. It can be done. You can feel OK without drugs or alcohol, and overcome cravings too, but you might need something to make yourself stronger as a person to face life in general, to be more successful at what you do and to learn to be happy without the drugs. Narconon has self improvement practices built into it. I looked closely at this program. I wish I knew of it at the time I really needed it. I would have had a much easier start.

This drug does more harm then good. Sure it works great for pain but in the long term it will cause severe addiction and problems. It won't help your pain as it once did. Your brain receptors will adapt to the dosage and eventually need more for the pain. You will continue to increase your dose over time and eventually you will be at the max dose allowed, at this point you will be in the devils grip. You will no longer be a free person, you will be a slave to this monster. You will always plan your days around Oxycontin. Oxycontin will be your new master. If you plan a trip you will have to plan ahead just to make sure you have enough pills for the trip. You will constantly be on a schedule. It is a never ending battle. You can be the most responsible person on this planet and take this drug long enough and you will become severely addicted and it will destroy you.Oxycontin works wonders in the beginning but in the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper.
