The National Geographic show I saw called Drugs Inc. explained the history of designer drugs, also called Party Drugs and synthetics.
The show said that Matt Bowden, from Auckland, NZ created the drugs after a friend of his over dosed on Methamphetamines. Matt explained that his intention was to create a pill that gave the same results as meth, with none of the side effects. While his intentions may have been good, things turned out very differently than he expected. Perhaps the idea wasn’t fully looked at from all angles. It is understandable and foreseeable that the biggest drug providers on the planet would not let a cash cow like this get past them. I can say that he made the drugs in the strictest of controlled and sanitary environments and he had good success as at that time, there were few side effects. Over an 8.5 year period 26 million pills were consumed by 400,000 consumers without any deaths or lasting injuries being caused by his pills. On his LinkedIn page he calls himself the Godfather of Legal Highs. Then arrived the big drug lords, who started making the drugs in unsanitary environments. Clearly they didn’t care if the dirt off the garage floor was in the mix, or the kitchen sink or a few rats added to the mix.. They didn’t care if people got sick from the pills they made, or if it caused death. Over and over again on the show, these drug lords expressed they were in the business for the money. It was clear, they didn’t care if someone was sick, or died. Per the show, the competitors, the drug lords, took the drugs to Tel Aviv and the drug is called Hagigat there. From there it went to England. The concoction is no longer pure, in fact, the drug is manufactured in China. From the show an interview took place at one of the manufacturers. I could see that the place was dirty. When a Chinese worker was asked by a media person if the drugs he was making was safe, the fellow replied that he really didn’t know, that that was being looking into. From China, the drugs travel across Asia to Tel Aviv, and onto England. Soon a number of people were getting poisoned and dying. Matt was horrified with what occurred. This was not, he said on the show, his intention. He went back to making music, which he loves, and didn’t produce the drugs again.
Matt is the originator and spokesman for Stargate International, one of the original manufacturers and distributors of the pills. Matt is now providing input to the development of a new regulatory body in New Zealand to oversee regulation of new drugs after safety testing them. If you have an addiction problem, Narconn can help you with that. 1-800-914-3412
