“I got suspended from the program a number of times.”
What was it like for you going through the drug rehab program?
At first I didn’t “see” anything because I’m the type of person that you have to prove something to me, in order for me to believe it. If you tell me to do something and it doesn’t jive with me or it doesn’t fit with me then, it’s like, forget it, I won’t do it. I went through this program and at first I couldn’t figure it out.
What also happened is that I got suspended from the program a number of times. Once it was because I got into a fight with this guy while I was in sauna. He started the fight and I decided to finish it and I put him in the hospital.
But Narconon kept giving me chances and taking me back. And here I mean a lot of chances. If it wasn’t for the staff here, seeing the good and the potential in me, I’d probably be dead right now. Anywhere else they would have just kicked me right out and said “Forget you! We don’t want to deal with you!”
For some reason the people at Narconon took me under their wing and they made me human again – they did, they really did. That’s the honest-to-God’s truth!
They took this piece of “trash” of society and helped me rebuild myself and hold my head up high. They helped me become a person who is able to help people get off drugs, instead of being someone who sells people drugs and ruins their life. Today I am employed full time at Narconon.
What kind of work have you done at Narconon?
I have done a lot of different things but my ultimate goal was to be a Course Supervisor. After I graduated, because of my track record, they had to see how I would do. They put me in different areas to see how I could handle them. This included withdrawal, security, cook, helping students, etc.
I must have done well because one day I got a phone call from Narconon and they asked if I would become a Course Supervisor. During my time working there, my ultimate goal was always to be a Course Supervisor, because I wanted to help people that had as much trouble as I did. So when they asked I jumped on the opportunity and said “No problem!” I was there the same day.
I’ve been a Supervisor for more than a year and a half now and it is just incredible.
