There are many reasons why a person should stop using drugs and they may vary from person to person.
Here are 10 reasons to get off drugs.
Drugs have never helped anyone-ever.
Drugs destroy lives, not make them better. There has never been one instance when someone’s life was improved by using or being addicted to drugs.
You’re hurting so many people.
It may be your drug use, but you are dragging a lot of people with you. Your friends, loved ones, coworkers and even neighbors are affected by your drug use. A lot of people get hurt when someone uses drugs.
Drugs kill.
Sometimes they kill directly, such as leading to a heart attack and sometimes they kill indirectly, such as a car accident. It’s a fact, drugs do kill.
Health.
When you quit using drugs, your health will improve, BUT, there is irreparable damage that is done each time you use drugs that cannot be reversed. These are years you are taking off of your life. The sooner you quit, the better off you will be.
You could lose your family.
There are many reformed and non-reformed drug addicts who can attest to the fact that drugs can cost you your family. You could lose your wife/husband, children, siblings and even parents. Drugs do a lot of damage to families. If enough damage is done, even people who love you could walk out of your life.
Drugs stand between you and happiness.
The drug addict may feel great while they are high but when they come down, the gloom and doom come with it. There is a happier life out there, the drugs just won’t let you see it. You can smile without being high and you can laugh without being stoned.
Money.
Of course, part of the drug addiction is spending money on drugs that should be used for other things, but stop and think what you could do with that money. You’ll have to dig deep to see, but you can realize how much money is being used for a few minutes of fleeting pleasure.
There is life out there.
Not just mere existence, but a real life can be yours once you are free from the drugs. It might not be the same life you had, but it can be good and whole and happy. You just have to make the effort.
You deserve it.
Sometimes, addicts are not told that enough, but everyone deserves a happy, drug-free life. There is a lot of good you can do and a lot of things you can enjoy once you are off of drugs and you deserve that.
Because it’s right.
Struggling deep down inside your mind, below the drug induced messages, is the message that is trying to get out; quit because it’s the right thing to do. Only you are going to be able to finally let that thought to the forefront and do the right thing.
