Addiction Treatment, Islam, and Narconon

Islamic Temple1 Addiction Treatment, Islam, and NarcononPer the Holy Qur’an Muhammad has said,

”They ask you about wine and gambling. Say, ‘In them is great sin and [yet, some] benefit for people. But their sin is greater than their benefit.‘” Al Baqarah 2:219

Virtually any drug rehabilitation facility in the world has seen the devastated lives of the alcoholic or drug addict. They have witnessed the damage to an addict’s family and friends, workplace and even their property.  It is no surprise to Narconon that the largest religion in the world has this concept so clearly communicated within its holy text.  And there are writings from many other sources which agree to such a message.

Alcohol and drugs have been in existence seemingly as long as mankind. Throughout history men and women have had problems in life which seem un-confrontable.  Some chose to “sooth” their mental pain with alcohol, medications or street drugs.  Some simply party with the “help” of alcohol and drugs – and some party a lot.

The only real problem here is that this “soothing” feeling (if it does happen, or seems to) or this “fun, high-feeling” does not last.  One comes down from the high and sometimes with incredible pain (hangover, depression, sickness).  Time goes on and then one finds himself or herself drinking more often to get the same feeling, or he/she takes larger doses of drugs — crack, cocaine, benzos… There is a science to how this turns into cravings and physical dependency.  A fantastic drug education lecture demonstrates why this happens, by a recovered addict named Bobby Wiggins.

If addiction does set in then one has to feed these cravings while killing themselves physically, or quit the alcohol or drugs.  Occasionally a person quits, by themselves or with the help of family, a close friend maybe, or assistance from their spiritual leader. Some unfortunately do not return to a sober life and fall into the field of Harm Reduction. Many however need the help of a drug rehab program from experienced professionals who know what has worked for others.  The Narconon program has been helping addicts become drug free since William Benitez founded Narconon in 1966.

Currently there are Narconon centres all over the world.  The program has years of successes and continues to find graduates of years earlier still writing in their stories of successful lives.  Specific parts of the program such as the unique and amazingly healthy New Life Detoxification Program (the part that has the most life-changing successes as attested by not only our clients but by their loved ones at home) is supported by science studies and professional papers by experts in the medical field.

The Narconon program has been open to all faiths and in fact that final course The Way to Happiness is based on easy to understand, common sense morals and relates to any faith and any teachings of goodness and honesty within.

Narconon staff look forward to meeting you.
