How Can I Save a Young Man From Drug Addiction When He Is Surrounded by Drug Addicts?

Much of the answer is going to depend on how the young man is related to you. Is he a Son? Perhaps he is just a friend or someone you would like to help. In order to be able to help any addict, they have to be approachable. Normally, this is when they are straight. The long and short of it is that unless he goessurrounded drug addict How Can I Save a Young Man From Drug Addiction When He Is Surrounded by Drug Addicts? into rehab, he probably will not stop the addiction. Getting from where he is, to rehab, is the issue.

Talking to the person like an adult and expressing concern is probably the best place to start. If that person shows any interest at all in what you say, that is a very positive note. Expressing your concern starts things on a level that is not accusing the addict of anything. They may deny the addiction or problem but that, in itself is part of the addiction. Why is this young man surrounded by drug addicts? The answer will be important because obviously he cannot go back to that environment if he does agree to rehab.

All one can do is try when it comes to addiction. If the young man is a family member, intervention may help. He has to get out of the environment he is in and then stay out of it. Even if he goes to rehab, if he goes back to his drug addicted friends, chances are he will go back to using drug in a matter of time. Persistence will be necessary to convince him to get off of drugs. Do not let yourself be injured by violence but if the person is willing to listen to you, keep talking. Keep going back again and again and trying to get the same message across. Stress that there is a better future and that he can make it possible.

There is always a chance that despite best efforts, the addict stays put. As long as they will give you a chance to keep trying to convince them otherwise, keep taking it. Without putting the person down, stress the negatives of their lifestyle and the positives of a drug free lifestyle. Given enough opportunity, you may just be able to convince this person to get away from drugs
