Seeking drug rehabilitation is a step in the right direction.

Once that decision is made, choosing a drug rehab comes next. There are many good intentioned organizations that run rehabs. The problem is, they are partial day or part time rehabs. With a residential drug rehab, one of the major obstacles in rehabilitation is eliminated. That obstacle is being in the old element. People trying to break the drug habit need time as well as treatment. They need time away from their own house, neighbourhood, and in some cases, even time away from their friends.

A residential drug rehab offers a haven.

A residential drug rehab offers a haven where people can safely work out what they need to do to be drug-free. There is plenty of support available 24 hours a day and there are none of the triggers that often send people back to their old drug habit. In fact, in a residential center, the drug abuser has the time and the space to figure out what his or her triggers are. They can get help with this in individual and group sessions.

A residential drug rehab offers the peace of mind of knowing that whatever is said and/or done during detox and rehab is familiar to the staff. They know how to handle each situation and the drug abuser can concentrate on getting better.

A residential drug rehab has treatment plans and equipment not utilized by part time programs.

Another advantage of a residential drug rehab is that they often have treatment plans and equipment not utilized by part time programs. Relaxation techniques and equipment are available when needed at a residential drug rehab. There is also trained staff available 24 hours a day. These are people who are there to help the drug abuser get better. They do this without judgment and with complete honesty. The drug addicted individual is in a safe environment surrounded by people who are well trained in what to expect during detoxification and rehabilitation. Their goal is to help the drug addict attain their own goal; being drug-free.

A residential drug rehab offers a total element of healing.

The best advantage to residential drug rehab is the fact that there is a total element of healing. It is safe, secure, and in many ways, comforting. There are no people “walking through” or just coming for the afternoon. No gawkers, so to speak. Residential treatment centers consist of those trying to be drug-free, and those trying to help them succeed. That is a comforting thought in itself.

You made me ask myself why there's not a residential drug rehab in my neighborhood. If the method is so efficient, why it is not implemented everywhere? Of course one will need a lot of strength to make the most important step first, admitting the need for the rehab.
  • Thanks for your blog, there's a lot of good information here. Keep it up.
  • Thanks for the post.
I totally agree regarding the success a residential treatment program brings to a recovery addict.
However, I also believe that the situations can differ from addict to addict
  • I think rehab really does help recovering addicts in clearing their minds. Sober monitoring is also very helpful part of treatment.
