Inpatient treatment for drug or alcohol abuse in Canada can be obtained in a couple of ways, some people do not know where to start so I will help you get started by simply reading this article, or call me at 1.877.782.7409. In Canada you have basically two options for inpatient treatment from drug or alcohol abuse.
The first option is through your local civil/provincial government and options provided in your community. These are usually short-term programs or detox centers; in order to get started in these programs referral may be necessary. In order to get going in most of these programs the addict must make the call and go through an admission process and show willingness to participate. These programs are usually low cost or free covered by tax dollars. Often you will find waiting lists, if you do encounter this get on the list immediately and continue to follow up with the center as spaces do open up as others drop out, do not show, or simply finish the program. These centers may not be the best solution as success rates are low, but for many this is the only choice, if you do need any assistance with finding a center please give me a shout and I will more than happy to guide you along.
The second option is private care. With private programs quality of care is very good, and you will not find waiting lists, intake is immediate providing proper qualification. Centers will operate differently from one to another, but will usually provide a solid program basis. You will find 12-step programs as well as bio-physical/cognitive programs amongst others. Success rates will still vary, but generally are higher than funded programs, some of these programs will offer success up to 75%, which is outstanding.
