As part of the celebration of this past Friday’s Narconon live graduation event, there were several guest speakers who had wonderful sage advice for the men and women getting clean and overcoming a battle of addiction.

Andre Ahern, Director of Expansion at Narconon Trois Rivieres.
Andre Ahern, a Director of Expansion at Narconon Trois Rivieres, gave sound advice on going into battle and fighting the addiction the Narconon way, calling the students Freedom Fighters. He encouraged them, stating that they could do it, that they could win out over the addiction.
As I listened to Mr. Ahern talk of Freedom Fighters, I realized he had chosen the most appropriate term for those who are waging war against the control of drug addiction, they are fighting for their freedom to be themselves again, to have normal lives again, to be regular every day people who remember the night before and who can perform normal tasks throughout the day.
We do not realize what we have until we no longer have it and those who are addicted to drugs or alcohol no longer have the freedom to control their own lives or cravings. By calling it out by name, by telling the students they are indeed Freedom Fighers, Mr. Ahern has indeed put a name to the cause and a name to the warrior. Fighting for freedom from addiction is a battle worthy of all who undertake it and just as one goes into battle with comrades, Narconon has battle buddies available through counseling and group therapy sessions as well as aftercare.

Marcel Gemme, Addictions Counselor
Another guest speaker who spoke at the Narconon live graduation event also encouraged the students and his words came from experience as a former addict who has been drug free for 22 years. Marcel Gemme‘s advice was matter of fact and in its simplicity, it was encouraging and successful. He encouraged the students to finish the program and get on with life; that when something comes up, take what they have learned from the program, the tools they were given, and get rid of the situation that tries to make them relapse. By doing this, he assured them they can live a happy life and he himself stood there as proof of just such a statement.
These wonderful guest speakers offered encouragement and wisdom, and the students they addressed last Friday were recognized as what they were, Freedom Fighters who deserved happy lives. That is what Narconon is all about.
