What could happen if an Addict does not go to Drug Rehabilitation?

Drug addict death 300x200 What could happen if an Addict does not go to Drug Rehabilitation? There is much controversy nowadays regarding drug rehabilitation centers. Some claim that they are not functional at all and a waste of money, tax payers or private. Others claim that people get brainwashed, that some organizations actually behave like cults and accomplish nothing but replacing the addiction with radical beliefs. However, what people don’t usually understand is that not all the drug rehab centers are the same. There is a huge variety of different drug rehab centers that use different methods to cure addicts.

Some rehab centers do have totally inadequate and antiquated programs for drug rehabilitation. As a matter of fact there are centers which claim that drug addition is a disease that can not be cured but can only be controlled, so anyone who stops drinking or taking drugs have to always be careful to not awake the beast of addiction in themselves. On the other hand when somebody who followed their methods starts drinking or taking drugs again, it’s supposed to be ok since the person is diseased.

The methadone treatment has also shown to be of little effect, heroin is one of the most dangerous and addictive drugs in existence and rehab is really hard and long. Treatments that include methadone as a substitute during the detoxification period have had very little long term success and most addicts return to heroin consumption or at least substitute heroin for methadone on a long term basis.

There are of course drug rehab centers that apply totally different programs. These include holistic and/or exclusively natural methods of curing the addict,  where it is understood that addiction is not a disease but a state of mind in connection with toxic bodily dependence. It is possible to permanently overcome addiction with proper understanding and handling of what caused the addiction to start in the first place.

A great problem might be the addicts refusal to enter a drug treatment center regardless of the fact that the center may only employ natural methods and be of the most modern and advanced variety. Of course, the addict may refuse to enter a drug rehabilitation center and finally it is his or her god given right to kill him or herself through the consumption of alcohol and/or drugs, but believe it or not death may not be the worst consequence of refusing to enter a drug rehab center.

Excessive use of drug or alcohol can cause:

  • blindness,
  • paralysis
  • as well as the consequences might be of social nature, you may commit murder while drunk or high and end up in jail for the rest of your natural life.

If you have exaggerated with the consumption of drugs and/or alcohol and cannot get your life back on track by yourself, entering a modern day, open minded drug treatment facility would be an excellent option before allowing matters to deteriorate further.
