The Narconon Rehab Program is not a Walk in the Park, But it Brings Results

700 Narconon TR Summer 2011 The Narconon Rehab Program is not a Walk in the Park, But it Brings Results

Narconon Trois-Rivières is located in a beautiful distraction free environment in Trois-Rivières, Canada

Most people are aware that breaking free from drug and/or alcohol addiction is never easy. The removal of drugs from the body of an addict has physical and mental, as well as spiritual ramifications. These can be eased to a great extent, but the road is still far from being smooth. Becoming drug-free and staying drug-free takes work. Since 1966, the Narconon program has been helping 1000s and 1000s of people to beat their addiction.  Our drug rehab program is effective because it combines detoxification with a series of courses which help the student prepare for living a drug-free live outside of the campus walls. Narconon Trois-Rivières is a long term residential facility, with most students staying an average of 4-6 months.

No one ever said rehab was easy, but with Narconon, it gets results. Starting with withdrawal, Narconon staff carefully monitors the student and offers “assists”, which are procedures which are easily applied and are used often to help with minor injuries and traumas. They help to ease the physical discomfort which may be associated in withdrawal. Many graduates specifically comment on how much easier withdrawal was compared to what they expected.

The Narconon Rehab Program

There are 8 steps, called books, in the Narconon program after the addict has completed withdrawal. Students do not graduate until they have successfully completed each step. These steps are each specialized techniques and lessons which must be mastered in order to be able to conquer drug and/or alcohol abuse. Before returning home, the student takes an active part in their discharge and after care planning. Students stay until they have learned the material, and feel comfortable in their ability to leave the facility. For this reason, some students are at the campus longer than the estimated 4-6 months. This may be considered a large chunk of time, but if the result is a lifetime free from addiction, it isn’t.

Book 1 – Communication

Once the withdrawal has been completed, the first step is a communication exercise series which helps the student to effectively speak, listen, face situations and control. The inability to effectively communicate and handle confrontation often leads addicts into their self imposed exile during addiction. This communication series of exercises is only touched upon at this point before the next step is introduced.

Book2 – New Life detoxification

The “New Life Detoxification” is next. Detoxification is to eliminate or curb the phisical craving for drugs or alcohol. Narconon uses the unique Hubbard detoxification methods, whih include sauna and vitamin regimen to draw the drugs out of the fatty tissues of the body. It is a completely drug-free and proven effective method which works even when other methods have failed. In fact, it works for Methadone addiction, which is a drug used by some rehabs to substitute another drug addiction.

Book3 – Learning Improvement

The Learning Improvement section comes next. This book actually helps the student “learn to learn”. It is designed to help students learn to study, and retain information better. The ability gained in this portion of the program benefits the students for the rest of their lives.

Book 4 – Communication and Perception

Next comes the Communication and Perception course. This goes hand in hand with the information used in the Book 1. It is more involved and detailed and includes information on avoiding false perceptions of people’s words and actions.

Book 5 – Ups and Downs in Life

When that section is completed, it is time for the “Ups and Downs of Life” portion of the program. Students learn to achieve more personal stability. They  learn to form real relationships and friendships through this section. They also learn to identify those who may be bad influences in life, causing them to make less than healthy choices.

Book6 – Personal values and Integrity

Personal Values and Integrity section is next. The title pretty much speaks for itself. Students learn to identify or rediscover their values.  Students are able to rid themselves of shame, guilt and bad attitudes. They also learn to take responsibility for their actions past, present and future.

Book 7 – Changing Conditions in Life

Next is the Changing Conditions in Life portion of the program. This is basically damage control. There is a lot of damage caused by addiction which must be dealt with. This course also teaches the different actions to do to improve any area of one’s life.

Book 8 – The Way to Happiness

Lastly, there is the Way to Happiness section. This teaches the student a good secular moral code by which to live.

Breaking free from drugs the Narconon way is a lot of work. The results are amazing, however, and worth the effort. Students leave the program with a new attitude and way of life. The program teaches positive methods of dealing with stress and living life drug-free. It is a comprehensive program which is unmatched in the field of rehabilitation. It’s not easy, but worth it? YES, say the graduates of the program.
