A Narconon Trois-Rivieres drug rehab graduate beat an 11-year long drug addiction, and turned his life around for the better. Scott says in his interview: “I was a drug abuser for 11 years, I am now 30 years old and have been clean for three years and two months. My drug abuse started by experimenting with pot; for many reasons including peer pressure, but then escalated to ecstasy, mushrooms, LSD, and then eventually cocaine. My cocaine use lasted five years during my addiction.”
When many drug users start taking drugs, they feel that the drugs are giving some sort of advantage; however, Scott had something different to say about that. “Drugs weren’t creating any advantages for me at all, but at the time I thought it was cool, and it took pressures away from everyday life. There was no more peer pressure as long as I was partying and avoiding facing any real issues in my life.” Throughout Scott’s drug use he lost many of his real friends, but was able to salvage some of these lost friendships. “During my drug abuse my relationships with true friends deteriorated and negative influences surrounded me. It took me the last three years to build back constructive relationships with those friends I had once lost.”
As for most drug addicts, it can be difficult to accept the problems that drugs are creating in their lives. Scott says in his interview: “Drugs became a problem for me right from the start, from the first joint I smoked up until the last bit of cocaine I used. My ability to live a positive and constructive life was difficult while using drugs. Although I did many good things and grew in various areas of my life, I could have done better. Near the end, and when I started to use cocaine; absolutely nothing in my life was created, everything I had built was destroyed, and I nearly lost my life.”
Three years ago, Scott was in a position where he was ready to give up on himself. Through his own determination, and the help of Narconon Trois-Rivieres, Scott was able to turn everything around. When asked how he now feels, Scott had this to say. “I would say that I can now make real strides in my life for the better, and not go in the wrong direction, ruining everything. Relationships with my family and friends are better than ever. I do not think of using drugs to avoid pressure or stress, instead I deal with all that life throws my way. And it is usually good stuff that is coming my way these days.”
