I am writing this to inform everyone out there about how serious oxycontin actually is in Regina. It is a new epidemic and many, many people are becoming very addicted. Not everyone knows about it, it’s a hidden disease and people are ashamed to talk about it. However it is way worse then people think, it is flooding our streets of regina and ruining the lives of our loved ones.
Oxycontin is a prescription pain medication that can be highly addictive when abused. It is very readily available to our society, and it can easily get into the hands of the wrong people, like drug dealers who will distribute them at high costs to anyone, not caring that it is ruining lives.
Users of Oxycontin crush the pills and swallow them, snort them or even inject them. When the medication is abused like this, the effects are altered and the risk of addiction sky rockets. It is extremely difficult to quit the drug because of the withdrawals. Individuals will experience pain throughout their body, vomiting, chills, cold sweats and other flu like symptoms. Oxycontin often leads to depression and hopelessness, as the need for the drug becomes ones only priority.
We need to do something in order to get this drug off our streets and out of the hands of our loved ones.
