Oxycontin Detox

September 30th, 2009 | by Nick Hayes

The drug Oxycontin is similar to Heroin, Percocet and Morphine because it too is an opiate. Oxycontin withdrawal can produce some dangerous symptoms, which should be monitored closely by professionals. Although many will say that a substitute drug such as Xanax would be needed, what that does is make matters worse.

It is best to find alternative treatments besides drugs to deal with Oxycontin.

In a qualified oxycontin rehab center that focuses on holistic treatment, the drug abuser’s health is strictly monitored as well as their emotional well-being. Any drug can gain a tight grip on someone and that is especially true with Opiates.

Breaking free of Oxycontin addiction is difficult, but it can be safely done.

Many people report that just after immediate withdrawal from Oxycontin, they feel a great deal of pain. This is also reported in those people who had no pain before they began abusing Oxycontin. This is because the drug actually alters the brain. Convulsions can also be a part of withdrawal. Breaking free of Oxycontin addiction is difficult, but it can be safely done. It can be done so that you come out of it free of the drug and armed with the knowledge and strength you need to stay off the drug.

Many doctors prescribe Oxycontin without a second thought. Because it is so powerful and easily addictive, it also is very easy to overdose.

If you think there is a possibility that you or a loved one has a problem with Oxycontin, seek help immediately.

Waiting, only makes the detox and treatment worse overall. If at all possible, if your doctor suggests Oxycontin, ask him or her if there is something a little less powerful. Your doctor won’t mind and it may save you from a terrible addiction.

Oxycontin addiction is rising at an alarming rate. We are now at a point where even school aged children are addicted to the drug and having to go through detox and treatment. This drug was originally developed for end stage cancer patients to mask the pain. Now, it is prescribed for just about anything that is remotely painful. There may be no one who looks forward to detox from Oxycontin, but the only other options are lifelong addiction or death. At least with treatment, a happy and secure life is possible.

Oxycontin detox may not be the most fun road to take, but it is the safest and the surest way to get to where you want to be; drug-free.

Hi - My partner has been taking OxyContin for over 10 years now. He is wanting to stop taking the drug. He has spoken with his doctor who has reduced him to 3 tablets a day (5 milgrams) of OxyCodone. What other drug could his doctor prescribe to help with the withdrawl process.

    Thanks
    Kathy
  • Just want to say, if you have opiate addiction, DO NOT accept the methadone route. IT IS WORSE THAN HEROIN. Do not let the clinic tell you that your heroic addiction is a lifelong disease that you NEED methadone for.

Usually people take other drugs to mask the withdrawal symptoms. Its best to just kick cold turkey, but do some research on Ibogaine and you might be surprised at how it actually works to stop the dope sickness of a 27+ year addict within hours. The rate of relapse is also MUCH lower than any other form of rehabilitation. It is not heard of in the states too often because it is illegal for some odd reason, but not in all countries. Many countries hear the voice of reason and have GREAT success rates with Ibogaine. Its even in wikipedia these days. Ibogaine also produces a very profound mystical experience that realigns people with themselves or god, whichever you prefer. It puts things into perspective making the accomplishment of defeating addiction seem like a small feat. Not to mention it blesses you with no withdrawal in the meantime.

Just watch the youtube video testimonials. Seriously, if you have an opiate or other addiction and have tried it all, and are seriously done with being an addict, check into it.
