If Drugs Make Me Feel So Good, Why Should I Do a Detox Program?

When you are carefree, relaxed and fit, looking your best, and confident, it is only natural that you will feel good, and on top of the world. Fitness and health go hand in hand, good health and fitness is attractive. People who are healthy and fit, happy and content have no reason to mess with drugs or get involved with substance abuse.

Others don’t have it so lucky. They would like to be fit and healthy, carefree and optimistic but life has been unfair, dealt them cruel blows. They feel somewhat downcast, depressed about most everything that surrounds them. Others might feel that life is a drudge, treading one foot after the other in endless, boring routines. People waiting, for something to come along and ignite a spark of excitement or to take away their pain.

Chances are in the modern world, it will be drugs that attract attention for those people. And for most people, that first attempt at securing happiness by using drugs exceeds all expectations. Drugs that cause euphoria, a painless blissful state, are easy to get, not painful to take, and make you want to come back for more.

Recreational substance abuse is easy to get into, but for too many people it is a hell to get out once started.

Party Pills 300x225 If Drugs Make Me Feel So Good, Why Should I Do a Detox Program?People can pop a pill, crush a capsule, inhale vapors from a pipe, eat a marijuana cake or even snort cocaine. Sure, injecting might be risky, painful but injecting is for hard core users, junkies – not for weekenders, like Lynda:

Lynda is a happy social drug user who has got things “under control”.

I don’t use drugs in the week as it would interfere with my work. I am careful about who I buy from and how much I use – don’t want to overdose, or start spending the vacation money. Drugs are good fun, you meet a good crowd, who know how to party – yes, some of those guys can stay up for days, and it’s party, party, party.

Risks, you say, drugs are risky – hazardous to health? Isn’t there a risk in everything – especially on the roads. Could get me a criminal conviction – I could lose my job.  Well, I actually work for my father, and we have the best lawyers in town should anything like that ever happen.

You can never trust a dealer or the purity of the drug – it is a game of Russian Roulette, every time you take a drug.

Well, I don’t think so, not really, a most unlikely event. I have some high level contacts, that virtually guarantees purity.

Well, drugs can come too pure you know, the risk of overdose. Do you know if any of your friends have suffered an overdose?

Once, I remember, but I was not there at the time. Yes, they had to call an ambulance. A cardiac arrest – obviously something wrong with his heart, whereas me, I’m pretty fit.

Yes, I saw the photos in the papers about people with necrosis due to using dodgy cocaine. I think it goes back to having trust in your dealer.

What about pregnancy, having a baby and doing drugs?

Well, really, you clearly are not up with the times. These days we have contraceptive pills you know, and morning after pills just in case – and I’ll have you know that doing drugs has actually improved my sex life.

I just don’t get what you have got against drugs. You’ve got to stay in control. I understand that, and I am. I don’t use drugs in the week or late on a Sunday night.  I totally fail to see why you are recommending to me the Narconon Detox Program or any other rehab for that matter.

How about premature aging and your complexion?

Yes, I do get dry skin and have a few wrinkles, that probably have got a bit worse since I started the drugs – but it’s not a problem because I use Botox for that which reminds me, next week, I have to go in for more treatments – the wrinkles are coming back. No, I’ve never thought of Botox in terms of substance abuse or being addicted.

Damaging to my health?

I have never been so slim before, ever in my life. Sometimes, at the weekend I can go all day and not eat anything – makes up for the cream buns and coffee that we have every day at work. Actually, that’s what I’ve started doing, hitting up lots on a Friday night, and just cruising through until Sunday. I’ve sometimes thought that it would be good to make every weekend a long one – and get really relaxed.

The only possible thing I can think of is that last time I had a check-up, my doctor said that I had some elevated levels in my blood – and some things were too low  – but nothing serious he said, he would monitor the situation. I am sure if I needed detoxification, my doctor would have mentioned it.

Yes, I do feel tired come Monday morning, tired and sometimes depressed. But I don’t see it as being a workplace issue at all.

Guess I could give up work and take a bit of a break, but then again, I can’t. I need the money coming in, to keep on buying the drugs.
