Well, I have been putting this off for a while now. Not because I don’t want to tell the world the story of my success, but because there are no words to do the journey justice. I have as of today, been sober 1 year. I am a 22-year-old single mother. I left home when I was 14, because already I couldn’t face my mother in the condition I was in. I was already using PCP and Cocaine, soon after I was selling drugs. I used cocaine heavy for years and smoked crack. Because of this, and the lack of sleep I started using prescription drugs to sleep. I needed to be high night and day. I was going through withdrawals in my sleep, waking me in 2-hour intervals.

Over the following year I manipulated my way around any conversation that dealt with me and was critical of everyone else so no attention would be on me.

Cocaine and crack are highly addictive because they keep a particular chemical- called dopamine- floating around in the brain longer than it normally would. This chemical makes a person feel great; on top of the world, and humans tend to repeat these feel good actions. In movies there are more than a few examples of people doing a few lines of coke or smoking crack before going out and dancing, fighting, or attempting to conquer Wall Street.
