Substance abuse can prove to be disastrous not only to the physical and mental well-being of the addict in question; it has graver consequences than that. It can lead to irreversible disruption in a person’s family. Families usually find it very difficult to deal with the addict because of fear and to some extent even passive guilt. In today’s day and age, families are becoming increasingly divided, resulting in a communication gap between members living even under the same roof. However, the discovery that any one member of the family is involved in addiction can strike a blow to everyone in the family.
