As can be expected we did have some “political” obstacles to overcome but we did so. After a number of days, the principles of the institute had satisfied themselves that the radiation levels were being lowered. However, they wanted to stop the program. You can imagine our horror, thinking that these people would be left with all this radiation in their systems, constantly detrimentally affecting their bodies. It may have eventually killed them. Somehow they managed to convince the powers that be to allow them to complete the program. One of the men turned out to be a medical doctor, and he has been a good friend to us all ever since.
