I am very pleased to be able to share with you the story of how I got help and got my life back with the help of Narconon. I was always what you would call an addictive personality… if I tried anything that could possibly become addictive, I became an addict of it. I was very young when I started taking drugs and drinking alcohol excessively, age 12. I had kept it to weekends for a while, until it began to be drinks and drugs during the week, whether at school or skipping school to do it.

Once upon a time people asked a wise man, what is the easiest thing to do? He said, to advise others. Again they asked, what is the most difficult thing to do? He said, to know yourself. At the end of this program, most definitely you will know more about yourself, and it’s hard because it’s the most important thing to know in life.

Well, I have been putting this off for a while now. Not because I don’t want to tell the world the story of my success, but because there are no words to do the journey justice. I have as of today, been sober 1 year. I am a 22-year-old single mother. I left home when I was 14, because already I couldn’t face my mother in the condition I was in. I was already using PCP and Cocaine, soon after I was selling drugs. I used cocaine heavy for years and smoked crack. Because of this, and the lack of sleep I started using prescription drugs to sleep. I needed to be high night and day. I was going through withdrawals in my sleep, waking me in 2-hour intervals.

How’s everyone doing at Narconon? One day when I’m not so busy I would like to come and say hi to everyone and get some of those wonderful hugs I got when I left, very caring loving people work there and that feeling has never left me. I started my electrical apprenticeship 8 years ago and it’s only supposed to take 4 years to accomplish a journeyman license. I am now a second year apprentice in school studying to be a 3rd year.

I am so happy and proud to say that after six years I am still doing well and living drug free. I really can’t believe how much time has passed since I left! I arrived at Narconon January 21, 2004, scared and hooked on heroin. I had been using opiates for almost three years, and had tried numerous times to get clean with no success. I didn’t care about my life at all.

I graduated from the Narconon Program just before the beginning of July, 2009. Since I left Narconon, I have become a functioning member of society again. Before I became fully aware of my addiction and problem I believed I still was a functioning member of society. How wrong I was. I did make it to work, to pay my bills, and ‘survive’ barely. But every spare dollar I had went to feeding my downward spiral of alcohol and cocaine use. I thought there was nothing wrong with staying up for days because I was “being more productive” this way.
