In celebration of the 44th anniversary of Narconon, we want to let you know that the same principles, the same ethics, the same foundation exists today in the Narconon family. Narconon International is a drug prevention and treatment program that helps people who fall victim to drug addiction to safely recover in an environment that helps them thoroughly, teaching them the tools needed to learn and avoid the temptations for a relapse, get completely rid of drugs in their system and then, when people are clean, instead of just saying “thank you, come again”, gives the ultimate customer service in setting up aftercare so a person is always taken care of by putting him together with the right support group.

Once upon a time people asked a wise man, what is the easiest thing to do? He said, to advise others. Again they asked, what is the most difficult thing to do? He said, to know yourself. At the end of this program, most definitely you will know more about yourself, and it’s hard because it’s the most important thing to know in life.

Well, I have been putting this off for a while now. Not because I don’t want to tell the world the story of my success, but because there are no words to do the journey justice. I have as of today, been sober 1 year. I am a 22-year-old single mother. I left home when I was 14, because already I couldn’t face my mother in the condition I was in. I was already using PCP and Cocaine, soon after I was selling drugs. I used cocaine heavy for years and smoked crack. Because of this, and the lack of sleep I started using prescription drugs to sleep. I needed to be high night and day. I was going through withdrawals in my sleep, waking me in 2-hour intervals.

I arrived at Narconon Trois-Rivieres on March 17th, 2009 from Kelowna, B.C. I was just released out of Kelowna’s General Hospital after almost loosing my life. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks. I had lung surgery and blood poisoning. My health, nutrition and weight were very fatal. My plans and intentions were never to become clean and sober or even come close to getting treatment. Living a long healthy prosperous life wasn’t something I saw for myself, even though I was raised in a family to believe so. I just took the wrong path for myself at a very young age. I had no way of dealing with my emotions or feelings other then self-destruction; it became a ritual.

I am doing wonderful, Narconon Trois-Rivieres really turned my life around and I will forever be grateful for all that I have learned from all my courses there. When I arrived there shortly after 9/11 that January I was a total (heroin addiction) mess, when I say mess I mean an absolute mess, I didn’t know whether I was coming or going. After I managed to get through withdrawal, I could have stuck my head in the sand and pretend not to face a beautiful life of happiness in which I control my own destiny.

These days, many people are becoming addicted to alcohol and drugs, which makes life difficult for the addicts and the people around them. These addictions not only affect addicts’ personal lives, but their professional lives as well. This makes it difficult for family members to manage their monthly expenses and it results in many other financial tribulations. The best way to break the cycle of addiction is to seek long-term alcohol and drug treatment from a rehabilitation center.

Happy New Year to all of our readers! Here at Narconon, we look forward to the New Year with more hope and optimism than ever before, thanks in part to the wonderful live graduation event we hosted on the 18th of December. Any time that we are able to participate in the joy and reality of a successful recovery, it inspires our counselors and our staff to move forward and help prepare more people for not only a live graduation of their own, but a new life free of addiction.
