This shocking and touching video-clip depicts the conflicting life of an individual oppressed with grave drug addiction and alcohol problems. His perception on life was somber - believing that there was no hope to salvage his life's plummeting downfall, except death. By sheer coincidence, a Narconon brochure happened to be lying around on a nearby table (really happened). He had a possible solution to his serious problems. A critical decision was to be made : a simple phone call or a certain death.

Such a type of video-clip is particularly difficult to film, since the emotions on the filming location are quite intense. Sylvain Fournier, impersonating the desperate individual, truly relays a memorable and convincing performance throughout this harsh moment. Each time that he repeated the scene, it appeared more realistic every time. The tension and realism of the scene was such that shivers went down the technicians' spine. Furthermore, several little breaks were necessary to let the pressure and stress go down. All of this tedious work lasted for many long hours, which is surprisingly long for a draft version. |
Afterwards, the team headed to the Brainchild rehearsal studios. There, they filmed for several continuous hours to obtain the desired shots. However, this segment was less emotionally packed than the previous one. Nevertheless, it was quite exceptional to see the group's singer, Judy Anne, be capable of making her audience shudder with emotion. She has a magnificent voice with great power. Emmanuelle, the second member of Brainchild, is a talented pianist that grasps your immediate attention, and brings us into her musical world.
Where does such a skillful music group come from? Brainchild is a group from Montreal, composed of two women: Judy Anne Richard and Emmanuelle David. They first met in elementary school, but it was only during their teenage years that they became inseparable close friends. Both have taken piano lessons, but only Emmanuelle truly demonstrated a profound interest for it. Judy Anne decided to launch herself in singing. |

However, this didn't initiate any musical collaboration between them. It was only in 1995, when Judy Anne had her friend Emmanuelle read a song she had written when a man had broken her heart, that Emmanuelle went back to see her with a melody for her lyrics. Both loved it. For 5 years, Judy Anne and Emmanuelle continued to write songs without any definite recording plans.

In April 2000, a friend of Judy Anne talked to her of Mario Cloutier, who owned and ran a recording studio. The two women were greatly interested and excited by the idea of finally recording their songs on a disc, but they hesitated and didn't call. Nevertheless, in September, Judy Anne mustered all of her courage and called. While listening to the ringing tone, questions sped through her mind. Will he accept? Could it be too expensive? She was truly surprised when Mario not only accepted to help them record, but he would do it for free. |
All the melodies and song lyrics come from their creative minds. Judy Anne writes the majority of the lyrics, but Emmanuelle also participates from time to time. This is notably the case for the song Losing Control. One thing is sure; Brainchild is presently in expansion when compared to last year. We can now see them on stage one week out of two at the Brown Bag Café, in Montreal. They also participate in several shows and special events.
Losing Control is their very first video-clip. The women found the making-of quite exciting and entertaining. They were relaxed and poised. With their remarkable talent, lots can be expected from Brainchild in a near future.
